The RIS Smart Port Logistics Business Division of the National Korea Maritime and Ocean University (headed by Kim Yul-seong) announced that on the 27th, it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for research and development collaboration under the Local Government-University Cooperation-based Regional Innovation (RIS) project with Hanjin Busan Container Terminal (CEO Kim Gyu-kyung) and PISCESOFT (CEO Lee Chae-min).
Under this agreement, the institutions will collaborate on the joint development of an AI-based autonomous container transfer system, the creation of a smart port experiential simulation system, and academic exchanges, all aimed at strengthening industry-academia-research cooperation in smart port logistics.
This agreement establishes an important industry-academia-research collaboration framework in preparation for the future transition to automated ports. It includes the development of a digital twin system for port terminals in the Busan area and the creation of interconnected routes assuming the operation of autonomous vehicles (AMRs, IGVs, AYTs, etc.) within existing terminals.
